Gallery – St Paul’s Final Journey, Malta to Rome
This section is taking a long time between everything else going on. There will also be pages on other historical encounters, churches and mishaps, whilst on my pilgrimage 23rd Nov – 29th Dec 2025.
St Paul’s Bay, Malta – Ship Wreck
“There’s no clear landmark pinpointing St Paul’s exact landing spot. The statue on St Paul’s Island is a tribute, but it’s on an island, so likely not where he actually came ashore and met the locals (or the viper 🐍!). The actual site’s probably on the mainland, like near St Paul’s Bay, where tradition suggests he landed.”
(Acts 27 39:44, 28 1:6)
Paul was here for 3 months.
St Paul’s Bay – Basilica de St Paul
This Church is a tribute to St Paul, as far as I could find out, nothing specifically happened here with regards to Paul’s final mission. However, there is a sign saying that Malta has a St Paul celebration day on the 10th February. The 10th February is linked with the laying of the foundation stone of St Paul’s Tower that is near this church. Again, nothing to do with Paul’s mission.
Mdina – The Silent City
“This is the site where Apostle Paul healed Publius’ father, in Mdina. After that, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured (Acts 28:7-10). The church marking the spot is surprisingly humble compared to others in Malta, despite its significance.”
