Forgiveness

Seeking Forgiveness – Is It A 2 Way Street?

When it comes to God, then absolutely not. He sent his one and only Son to be crucified to forwgive us for every sin (and unforgiveness is a sin), past, present and future – Game set and match!

1 John 2:2
[2] He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

When it comes to asking for forgiveness of others, then obviously, it is a 2 way street, and someone needs to go first!

From personal experience I know that family and companion reconcilliation can be the hardest.  Often our “wordly heart” can be broken and we long for total peace in our new heart with Jesus.

God wants everyone to Love each other as we should Love 0urselves, and as He Loves us. So by not trying to heal transgressions, we are not performing God’s will, by not giving that person the opportunity of clearing the air and Loving you back.

Colossians 3:12-14 NIV
[12] Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. [13] Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. [14] And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Seeking forgiveness:

  • Heels broken relationships
  • Makes you feel better
  • Makes others feel better
  • Puts You closer to Jesus
Pray…Pray for the opportunity, courage and God’s words of wisdom, peace and righteousness to open the door(s) and start communications. Pray for those that have ears to listen.
Matthew 11:15 – “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

2 Things are likely to happen:

  1. The door remains shut
  2. The door opens & all is made well
If…
1. Then pray persistently until you feel it is God’s will for no change, and it necessary to rid you of any guilt and pain (God wants us to be Joyous – it is the 2nd Fruit of the Spirit), then we have to let go, and  “Give It To God“. We all know that this is not as simple as it sounds, but God does not want us to carry trouble, strife and anxiety, so Pray again and pack it away in Your new spiritual heart.

2. If the door opens and stays open…

Hallelujah…Praise God with ALL of Heart, Rejoice, Feel the inner Love & Joy!

And if someone asks you for forgiveness, then this says it all…

Matthew 18:21-22 NIV
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”

Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
